Fall Portraits in the SF Bay Area: The Beauty of Childhood in Autumn

There is something about fall that makes you want to slow everything down.

The beautiful colors, the cooler afternoons, the softness of the light. The little sweaters and bare feet, the leaves underfoot, and those cozy moments that make you want to gather your children a little closer.

And then, almost as quickly as it arrived, the season is gone.

Maybe that's what I love most about photographing children in the fall. It isn't just about the beautiful colors or the pretty light. It's about preserving a little piece of a season that feels fleeting in every possible way.

Because childhood is, too.

The tiny hands holding a fallen leaf. The way they curl into you for a cuddle. The expressions and little details you know will change before you realize it.

These are the photographs I want to keep: the feeling of this particular fall, with this particular little person, exactly as they were.

Warm. Cozy. A little golden.

And gone far too soon.
